So I was thinking the other day that I want something completely different on my nails, kinda bored with just plain colour or leopard print. I looked up watermarble nail art a while ago, but never got round to trying it out. I took the opportunity today to try it out. I thought it would be great for a first tutorial :)
You will need:
Nail polish (base & top coat, white, two different colours)
Small cup or bowl of water (at room temperature)
Toothpicks
Tape
Nail polish remover
Cotton buds
Step 1
Fill a cup or small bowl with water, make sure the water is at room temperature (this is to ensure the polish spreads easily)
Step 2
Prepare your nails for polish. First paint your nails with a base coat, this is so your nails don't get stained. Next paint two thin layers of white nail polish ( your design will stand out)
Step 3
Now comes the fiddly part, taking two or three small pieces of tape, cover the skin around your nail, this makes the clean up process at the end a little easier
Step 4
Here is the fun part. Take your two colours ( I chose pink and dark purple) and one at a time put a drop of polish on top of the water untill you get what looks like a bullseye
Step 5
Once you have your desired amount of polish, take a toothpick and quickly drag and swirl the polish, be sure to just touch the surface of the polish
Step 6
Next dip your nail into your design you have just created and ensure your nail is kept underwater. While your nail is in the water, blow onto the surface of the water for 10 seconds to dry out the remaining polish. Then simply pick the polish up off the water with the toothpick and remove your nail from the water
Repeat these steps for the rest of your nails
And you are done. It does take a bit of time but it is worth it at the end. I love this technique as it let's your creativity out and you can have fun experimenting with different colours and designs I hope you have found this tutorial helpful. Let me know your thoughts in the comments :)
